"The price of greatness is responsibility."
- Sir Winston Churchill
For my first proper post in 5 months, I felt that what I must do, not for myself, but for mankind, is to write an open letter to our Jablogger-in-chief, Jablogger. Jablogger has strayed from the blogging path over the last few months, and I felt that he should be informed that it is his duty to heed the words of the great Winston Churchill. Click below to continue...
Dear Jablogger,
Through my journey into adulthood I learned that not all men are created equal. We are in fact quite different. Some of us are great athletes, some great artists, some great inventors. And because not all of us can be great at all of these things, it is the duty of those that are great to explore and display to the world their greatness. Jordan must play basketball. Picasso must paint. Edison must create. And when those that are great do what makes them so, it gives hope to all of mankind. That maybe one day I too can do something magical. Something that inspires the hearts of men. It is the responsibility of those with this power to show those without it the infinite reach of man's potential. Without this responsibility, we are only as great as the status quo, and mankind does not evolve.
Millions of people go about their daily lives angry. They don't know why they are angry, they just are. They know something is wrong, something is unfair, something is... outrageous. But they cannot articulate that rage. They lie awake at night, thinking "If there was only someone out there that could identify what I am feeling, and put that into words on a blog site that was set up for minimal expense". That is where you come in, Jablogger. This is your responsibility. Your gift and your curse. In all my years I have known no one more rage-filled who simultaneously possesses the Shakespearean ability to express that very rage.
I feel that you have been holding back your gift. Why, I do not know. Maybe you are afraid of what you might say. Maybe you are afraid your next post might be as phoned in as the last. Hey, Jordan didn't drop 55 every night. He didn't need to. He only needed to do it often enough so that people knew that there was at least one person out there that could be that great. You must do the same. Start blogging again.
In closing, if I may go a little Good Jablogger Hunting on you:
Nearly every day you and I and some of our friends meet up. And we go out. We have a few drinks, and a few laughs, and it's great. But you know what the best part of my day is? For about ten seconds, from when I turn on the computer in the morning and open up my browser, 'cause I think, maybe I'll click on that blog link and I'll load the page and you'll have just posted something that identifies some rage inducing inequity of society. No heads up. No call or text message. No nothing. You just posted. I don't know much, but I know that.
Respectfully,
Mankind
Is Jablogger's rage his dark passenger?
ReplyDeleteP.S. Great post!
I hope Jalumbus isn't sapping Jablogger of all his rage. Surely there's something to rant about regarding the new city...
